What is pdwr?

In October 2011, following a twenty-year career as a specialty wine buyer at some of America’s most influential domestic retailers, I launched the first independent wine review publication focused on producers in California, Oregon and Washington, exclusively. It is called purely domestic wine report, AKA pdwr and most of the content is available only by subscription.

Free access to a limited level of information including a wine of the week, and other commentary is available in a blog called worth noting. The purely domestic wine report  is published four times annually. Subscribing to the paid content is a two step process. Please register on this page for the site, and also complete the subscription information above.

Please note that it may take up to 24 hours to activate your account and you will receive an email confirmation at that time.

Thank you for your readership and support.

October 13, 2016

Today is one of those personal anniversaries that ends in a zero and I want to share a word of thanks for the blessings in my life, one of which is writing purely domestic wine report, the only magazine of its kind in existence. This month, it has been 5 years since the first issue and much has evolved within the pages and it continues to grow in readership in quarters that I didn’t expect. So thank you for the surprises.

Every birthday also makes me think of departed friends and family. At this juncture, quite a few people I knew who were younger than me are no longer around due to illness or tragedy. On top of that, my mom, Omie Wilder, passed in August of last year at age 93. Passages of people I know is sad, sobering and inspirational at the same time. It makes me think of health and lifestyle choices and wanting to improve myself and my impact on the people in my family and community in someway, every day.

First of all, I abhor people fussing over mine and since I have had the magazine I love to turn the tables and share a little gift from me with those who may not know much about what I do.

I am heading off to the wild Pacific Coast with my best friend this weekend beginning today and while I am gone, I want to share access to the most recent volume of purely domestic wine report with you as my gift to you. This is the link to the most current volume, 5.2. It will be up until I get back on Sunday. I hope you enjoy and feel free to share it with your friends.
