What is pdwr?

In October 2011, following a twenty-year career as a specialty wine buyer at some of America’s most influential domestic retailers, I launched the first independent wine review publication focused on producers in California, Oregon and Washington, exclusively. It is called purely domestic wine report, AKA pdwr and most of the content is available only by subscription.

Free access to a limited level of information including a wine of the week, and other commentary is available in a blog called worth noting. The purely domestic wine report  is published four times annually. Subscribing to the paid content is a two step process. Please register on this page for the site, and also complete the subscription information above.

Please note that it may take up to 24 hours to activate your account and you will receive an email confirmation at that time.

Thank you for your readership and support.

In November, I spent a week in Hillsboro, Oregon conducting an intensive series of tasting appointments with producers for volume 6.3 of purely domestic wine report. The result is the most expansive and dynamic issue ever produced which just happens to be number #25.

purely domestic wine report is a departure from review publications that focus solely on s constant stream of tasting notes. I have always believed that liberal inclusion of relevant imagery allows my readers to more deeply appreciate the wines either through the labels, or the people. It takes more space, and time to do it to the extent that i do. However, I view every issue as a slight improvement over what came before it. I invite you to look through a preview (click on the image below) that features the personal and candid portraits producers agreed to be part of. I assure you that the accompanying reviews are as carefully composed. I am sorry I couldn’t reach all of you for this report. I hope that you enjoy the preview and If I tasted with you, thank you!
